The story revolves around the wolf and the fox who are old enemies. They constantly try to outwit each other using various tricks. The conflict arises when the wolf accuses the fox of stealing his meat. Both animals appeal to others for support but no one can determine who is telling the truth. Finally, an ape is asked to judge and he concludes that the wolf never lost his belief in the joint and that the fox indeed ran off with it.
